Customer: “Hi, what drinks do you have here” meaning, I don’t want an iced coffee with cream
Barista: “Um, lots; here, let me show you a menu” knows that all they can offer is an iced coffee with cream
Customer: “Great, I’m feeling like something different. What do you have that will woo me?”
Barista: “We have good coffee” really bad sales pitch right?
Customer: “So what makes you different from the coffee shop across the road?”
Barista: “Ummm……..” awkward silence that ensures the customer knows that he/she is in ‘just another cafe’.
Ouch! This could be us this summer, in fact, this is playing out in most cafes in Toowoomba! People want a point of difference, they want to be “wooed” into a cafe by something above the ordinary. Why do so many cafes offer exactly what EVERY other non-descript cafe offers? Why not capture a niche market by doing something different?
What better way to give you (the customer) something different than to run a friendly wager with the staff!
This summer, we are promoting Summer lovin’ as our way to get coffee into Toowoomba in a whole new way. Too
many coffee shops offer the basics; iced coffee; iced mocha; blah blah blah. You already know us for our different approach to what would otherwise place us in the boring category.
So just how are we going to become a Summer Lovin’ cafe that does it differently?
Our three key barista’s are creating cold drinks to promote and use on the menu for the next few months. The drink that has the most appeal, equalling the most sales will win it’s creator first place and a really cool prize*. Can you see where this is going? The staff get rewarded for their hard work, and you get to try a few one off drinks that will showcase the talent that we have in the cafe.
Look for cool espresso based drinks, icy fruit creations and sweet infusions… We will update you soon with exactly what drinks make the cut.
