Why pay too much?

I am surprised lately of the quality of food and coffee that some cafes and major food franchisees are selling. I think it is absurd that the inflation of menu prices are killing off the style of cafes that customers will dine in. I was challenged recently by a social media marking big shot to dine in a local franchise eatery seven times in seven weeks; all to gauge the type of customer that frequents the place. I’m sad to say that I only lasted three ! I could not justify the expense for the lack of service and the poor food quality.

I believe in the little guys (like myself), trying to promote the best coffee and food, at reasonable prices. I would rather not follow the masses dining in cattle class style eateries, and pay $5 more in total for the quaint little cafes and the eclectic and funky coffee shops. Indie businesses are the place to get the best and it has sadly taken a back seat over the new wave of faster, food hall style big wigs.

I recently went to Melbourne on a reconnaissance mission. I am now ashamed to call myself a Queenslander! Yes, we can match it with the trendy state with our great lattes, single origin coffee’s and  friendly service. But we loose BIG time on the price factor! How can Melb’s, the trend setting cafe destination in Australia, still sell $3.00 coffees, yet, many a cafe in QLD is charging up to or above $4.50 for the same cup!!

This is where I officially call myself a niche market. I want to offer the expats of the southern states and the real cafe dwellers of the sunny state, the right products and the best service I can!! Hold me to this, as I will commit over and over again to serving you the BEST you can get in this small city of ours.
